RRCL (Re-Reading Children’s Literature) is an independent, non-commercial magazine devoted to children’s and young adult literature. More than a platform for review or criticism alone, RRCL is shaped by the idea of rereading: the belief that literary works remain alive through renewed encounters, fresh interpretations, and dialogue with changing readers and contexts.
The magazine brings together review, criticism, reflection, and conversation, creating a space where children’s literature can be revisited not as material for quick consumption, but as a field for thought, interpretation, and cultural inquiry. RRCL covers classic and contemporary works, fiction, poetry, picturebooks, illustration, translation, adaptation, and publishing, while also engaging with broader questions of reading, mediation, and literary culture.
Through essays, interviews, profiles, and critical features, RRCL seeks to introduce significant voices in children’s literature to Persian-speaking readers and to encourage deeper engagement with the texts, ideas, and experiences that shape this field.

Re-encountering the Text: We view the children’s literary text as a living entity. Our mission at RRCL (Re-Reading Children’s Literature) is to facilitate a re-encounter—a space where children’s texts evolve through dialogue with the reader’s lived experience and the complexities of our time.
The ‘Bazkhani’ Approach: We bridge the gap between simple review and deep critique. Our framework, locally known as ‘Bazkhani’, ensures children’s literature is not reduced to a commodity for rapid consumption, but preserved as a field for reflection.
A Space for Dialogue: We aim to move beyond passive reading, fostering a vibrant community where authors, critics, and readers engage in critical inquiry regarding children’s literature.
Polyphonic Perspectives: We cultivate a space where literature is viewed through diverse lenses. Our content bridges the gap between different stakeholders: from the illustrator’s visual narrative and the author’s creative process to the editor’s standards and the reader’s lived experience.
Critical Scholarship & Research: We elevate the discourse by integrating academic rigor with practical insight. We systematically analyze theses, conduct applied research, and explore unwritten genres, transforming theory into actionable knowledge.
Textual & Cross-Cultural Analysis: Our scope spans the entire spectrum of children’s literature. We delve deep into picture books, original works, retellings, and translated masterpieces, engaging with global children’s literature to understand our place in the world.
Who Reads Us: Our readership is a specialized community of professionals, including children’s authors, illustrators, academic researchers, educators, and librarians. We also reach dedicated parents and literary enthusiasts who seek a deeper understanding of the books they share with children.
Community Engagement: At RRCL, we don’t just publish; we interact. Through workshops, critical seminars, and digital platforms, we foster a continuous dialogue between the creators of children’s literature and those who analyze and consume it.
Global Reach: While we are a Persian-language publication, our vision is international. We actively bridge the gap between regional insights and global trends, making us a unique partner for cross-cultural collaborations.
